There are ways of improving self-esteem that is not as difficult as you may believe them to be. Sometimes it is very hard to see past the moment that you are in but that’s exactly what you must-do if you want to experience positive change in your life.
It takes years to develop low self-esteem, but it does not have to take years to build it back up.
As a matter of fact, there are many ways of improving self-esteem and I plan on sharing some of the easiest techniques that you can use.
Low self-esteem can really take its toll on how well you live your life. Your belief in yourself and the things you can do can be beaten so far down that you end up living a very sheltered type of life.
When this happens to your life literally can feel like a prison. You have such limiting self-beliefs and this keeps you from venturing any distance at all from your self-imposed comfort zone.
Using these ways of improving self-esteem will open more doors of opportunity for you. All of a sudden your world seems bigger your choices are greater and your confidence in yourself has grown.
Ways of improving your self-esteem can vary from changing your actions to simply challenging yourself and changing your beliefs.
Several Ways Of Improving Self-Esteem
Actions To Take and Beliefs To Change!
There are many things you can do towards working on improving low self-esteem. Let us start with just a few easy steps you can take.
- First Off Start Focusing On Your Achievements.
If you stop for a minute and just think of some of your past achievements I believe you will find you have a lot to really be proud of.
Take out a notepad and start to write down some of the achievements you have accomplished in your life. Write down everything that had brought you joy at that moment.
It does not have to be huge accomplishments, focus on even small things that you have done. It could be something as simple as a great report you got from school.
How about the first car you ever bought, I am sure that had some good feelings associated with that.
Think of a special relationship you have with someone, it could be your husband, your wife a brother, or sister anyone that you share a special bond with.
Add all these events, actions, or relationships into your list, remember to list everything you can think of that gave you or still gives you a feeling of pride.
One of the ways of improving self-esteem is to focus on anything in your life that has ever brought you some joy.
When you can focus on happy events something is triggered inside of you that makes you stop focusing on negativity.
Low self-esteem is exactly that….you feeling down about yourself.
If you are really honest with yourself I bet anything that your list is pretty long. This is just one of the ways of improving self-esteem.
Read over your list and allow yourself to experience the feelings you had when you accomplished what is on your list.
This very act will give you a positive attitude and your feeling of low self-esteem won’t be around for very long.
- Get Up-Get Out And Do Something You Enjoy Doing!
Everyone has things that they enjoy doing. Take some time for yourself and go do something that makes you happy.
There would be times when I just wasn’t feeling really good about myself and I would just grab my CD player and one of my favorite audio programs and go for a walk.
This would work so well for me I would feel so much better after having a relaxing walk and listening to something I really enjoyed.
You could go to the mall and buy yourself something. Buy something that you really want not something you need, spoil yourself its good to do that every once in a while.
Ways of improving self-esteem that is easy for you to do.
- Make Some Plans For The Future!
Get your mind off of the present moment and make some plans. You may have been thinking about taking a special college course or a ceramics class or joining a bowling league whatever it is set the plans into action.
Work on finding out everything you have to do to get things started. When you make plans it gives you something to look forward to and you can focus on that instead of dwelling on things that bring you down.
- Help Someone Out With Something They Need To be Done!
I feel really good about myself if I help someone else with something. It is a powerful tool and it can benefit you in many ways.
First, off the person your helping I am sure really appreciates it and you probably took your mind off of whatever was bringing you down in the first place.
Helping others really is one of the great ways of improving self-esteem, it shows you that you have value.
You are probably making a terrific friend in the meantime and this could be someone you could turn to in the future if you need something.
- Grab A Book To Read Or An Audio Program To Listen To.
Sometimes just relaxing…I mean really relaxing can really change the way you feel inside. These are ways of improving self-esteem that doesn’t take much effort at all although it does take desire. Whenever you want to affect real change in your life you must first have the desire to achieve that which you want to achieve.
One of the easiest ways for me to get myself out of the dumps is to listen to one of my personal development audio programs.
I found that these help me so much in so many ways. The messages that I listen to make me really think about things in a very practical way.
I really picked up a lot of helpful information from the following program;
The Psychology of High Self-Esteem Personal Development Audio Program For Improving Self-Esteem
Dr. Nathaniel Branden uses real-life case studies to help you overcome low self-esteem, I highly recommend this audio program to anyone dealing with these issues.
In this outstanding audio program, the pioneering psychotherapist, Dr. Nathaniel Branden, details for you — in easy-to-understand language — the action, both mental and physical, you can take to advance your self-esteem and the self-esteem of others.
His recommended strategies for building self-esteem have been thoroughly tested with the many thousands he has helped during his 30 years as a psychotherapist.
Sometimes when your low self-esteem grabs hold it takes listening to someone else to open your eyes to the way things really are not the way you see them at that moment.
When I am learning something that helps me understand why I act a certain way or do certain things I get a real sense of excitement.
I really believe in the use of personal development audio programs. They have helped me for years they are one of the best ways to learn new information that you can use.
If you always have different personal development audio programs on hand that you can turn to when you need it you will have a sense of security. I love the fact that I have so much information on hand at all times and I use them constantly.
Just laying on the couch and listening to an audio program relaxes me so much and I really do feel terrific even if I only listen for a half an hour.
I recommend you try this and see how it helps you. You may be very surprised at how easy it is to change the way you look at things.
Change Your Beliefs About How You Feel About Different Aspects of Your Life!
You have certain beliefs that you feel make up your character. It is some of these beliefs that are dragging you down and giving you low self-esteem.
When you are feeling down on yourself ask yourself “why?” I think you will find that you have some negative feelings about the way you think of yourself.
The chances are these beliefs are misguided and they are probably something you picked up in your childhood. You carry a lot of beliefs over for years until you are ready to face them.
One of the great ways of improving self-esteem is to really believe in yourself. Anything negative that you are holding onto you can change.
The stronger you feel about yourself and your abilities the better chance you will have in changing your negative beliefs.
It all really starts with you! You have to be able to see your value and you have to be able to believe in yourself.
Once you start believing in yourself then you can start changing certain beliefs that you hold about yourself.
Don’t ever put yourself down this is such a negative act and it will only work towards lowering your self-esteem. Really get into the habit of positive thinking.
Positive thinking keeps your mind focused on positive, cheerful events and it eliminates any room for negative, self-defeating thoughts.
It is a proven fact that people who focus their minds on positive thinking have a higher self-concept leaving no room at all for low self-esteem.
One Of The Greatest Ways Of Improving Self-Esteem!
- Decide To Become A More Positive Person!
Make the decision right now that you are going to look for the positives in everything. Be aware of your feelings if they are negative CHANGE THEM.
You ultimately choose what to focus on and if you are focusing on something negative you have to stop.
Positive thinking really does work!! I KNOW I have been using it for well over 25 years.
I still ask myself sometimes “what are you thinking?” and if it is in any way negative I immediately change it to something positive.
The more you can keep your mind focused on positive thinking the better you will feel about yourself altogether.
This is an absolute fact because I do it all the time. This is one of the best ways of improving self-esteem that I can give you.
In your attempts to keep yourself in a positive mood you have to keep yourself away from negative people.
Negative people love to spread the feeling, they will make every conversation into a moaning session.
Negativity attracts more of the same and you cannot afford to become a part of it.
There are ways of improving self-esteem that you are already aware of but you make yourself blind to those ways by keeping yourself in a negative mood.
Its time for you to make the choice to help yourself.
Do not accept living with low self-esteem, use these ideas, and make some changes now, you will thank yourself later I guarantee it!
All of these ways of improving self-esteem really do work!
You have to believe in something other than the negative thoughts that flow through your mind when you are feeling down on yourself.
You must make a serious effort to be aware of how you are feeling all of the time. If you are not aware of the fact that you are displaying low self-esteem it becomes very hard to help yourself.
You really need to get into the habit of asking yourself all the time “How do I feel at this moment?”
Ask yourself that question all throughout the day and if you cannot answer with something positive then you know right there and then that you have to make a change.
I am telling you this is one of the best ways of improving self-esteem that you could possibly use.
You are forced to look at your feelings and you will catch yourself in moments of having low self-esteem but now you are aware of the situation and you can take action to change it.
To Improve Your Self-Esteem You Have To Take Action!
You cannot allow yourself to stay in that situation. You have the power to change what you are thinking about.
- Go get your list of past accomplishments and start reading through all the wonderful things you have done.
- Grab a personal development audio program, put on your headphones, and go for a walk.
- Call up a friend and make some plans for dinner or bowling or anything else you are interested in, just get going.
- Change your thoughts to positive things, count your blessings, show gratitude for your life, focus on all that you have, and not what you don’t.
- Call up your Mother and talk about some good memories that you have.
All of these actions are great ways of improving self-esteem and you have the strength to get started on these at this very moment.
